Whippets are SIGHTHOUNDS
This means they see prey and want to chase it!
They have exceptional vision, but not very good noses.
Sometimes their instincts override their training and they dash away.
Tie-outs or stakes and invisible fences are not a Whippet's friend!
This is why Whippet owners are recommended to have fenced yards and use leashes when out and about.

APARTMENT DOG?
Whippets need vigorous exercise for
20 minutes -
between one and three times daily.
If they get that, these dogs are worth their weight in GOLD!
After that they can be couch potatoes.
Without that exercise, they can become destructive and anxious.

They are fantastic running, biking, hiking and walking buddies!
​They can far outlast us two-legged ones!

Whippets as a breed struggle with separation anxiety.
This can ABSOLUTELY be improved and overcome!
However, because they were created to be companion dogs, they will never do well being left alone for long stretches.
BACKGROUND
Whippets came from England.
There they were known as "the poor man's greyhound" and used to hunt rabbits.
